Omar joined Asali in 2014 and promoted to partnership in 2024.

He specializes in complex litigation and arbitration, mainly related to maritime, corporate, financial, insurance, telecommunications, energy and natural resources matters.

In addition to acting as arbitrator in various matters, Omar has represented clients before state courts and arbitral tribunals, in proceedings governed under ICC, LCIA and CANACO rules.

He has also advised foreign investors in connection with investment arbitrations against Mexico.

Omar successfully represented a shipping company against a financial institution for breach of its fiduciary duties and motivated a settlement in excess of USD 40 million.

Omar is representing a telecommunications infrastructure developer in an ICC arbitration against three leading companies in the telecommunications sector, claiming damages in excess of USD 250 million.

Omar holds a law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho and an LL.M. from the University of Chicago. Omar worked at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in New York in 2018, where he assisted in administering commercial arbitrations. Omar is admitted to practice law in Mexico and New York.

Omar is the author of several texts on litigation, corporate and arbitration matters. He served as editor-in-chief of Pandecta, the law review of the Escuela Libre de Derecho students. His practice has been recognized by legal directories such as Benchmark Litigation.
