Omar is a senior associate of Asali, which he joined in 2014. Omar specializes in complex litigations mainly related to maritime, corporate, financial, telecommunications, and insurance matters. Omar has represented clients before state courts and arbitral tribunals, in proceedings governed under ICC, LCIA and CANACO rules. He has also advised foreign investors in connection with investor-state disputes brought against Mexico.

Omar successfully represented a shipping company against one of the leading banking institutions in Mexico for breach of its fiduciary duties and motivated a settlement in excess of USD 40 million. Omar is currently representing a telecommunications infrastructure company in an ICC arbitration against three leading companies in the telecommunications sector, claiming damages in excess of USD 250 million.

Omar graduated from Escuela Libre de Derecho and holds an L.L.M. from the University of Chicago. He passed the New York Bar exam and is admitted to practice law in that jurisdiction. Omar worked at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in New York in 2018, where he assisted in the administration of commercial arbitrations. He is fluent in Spanish and English.

Omar is the author of several papers on matters related to Mexican corporate law, dispute resolution and arbitration. He previously edited Pandecta, an alumni magazine published by Escuela Libre de Derecho. His practice has been recognized by legal directories such as Benchmark Litigation.
